Cultivated for centuries in Syria, Turkey, Bulgaria, the Damask rose is the most widely used rose in the world of perfumery thanks to its fragrance and valuable properties. Even in ancient times, the Damask rose was highly prized and considered the queen of flowers.
Damask rose essential oil is produced primarily from the Damask rose. It is the petals that are delicately picked in the fields at dawn before the morning dew has evaporated. Each petal picked is fragile and essential for distilling Damask rose essential oil. Harvesting the Damask rose requires patience and passion.
Each rose has about 30 petals. To produce 1 liter of Damask rose essential oil, 4,000 kg of petals are used. It is also one of the most precious roses in aromatherapy. Harvesting is done by hand, early in the morning and quickly, as the petals wilt within a few hours. The distillation method used is also the most complex and delicate, requiring specialized expertise.
For all these reasons, this essential oil is significantly more expensive than others, making it rare and precious as it embodies luxury and refinement. A 1-mL bottle of Damask rose essential oil contains approximately 35 drops.
For any order of 3 bare-root roses, a 4th rose of our choice will be offered.
Damask rose essential oil is widely recognized for its rare and powerful properties. Indeed, this oil possesses harmonizing and aphrodisiac qualities. It is known for its benefits for the skin, the body, and emotional well-being.
For the skin, it is highly valued for its regenerative and anti-aging properties, as well as its soothing qualities. It is perfect for mature, dry, and delicate skin.
For emotional well-being, it helps to soothe, meaning it reduces stress and anxiety. It also helps promote a sense of letting go.

It is in 1845, in Lyon, that Claude Ducher organised the first world exhibition ever dedicated to the queen of flowers. The same year, he created his rose nursery and was internationally recognised 20 years later with the rose 'Abraham Lincoln' chosen to honor the President of the United States of America. Ducher's roses have gone through the centuries: 'Marie Van Houte', 'Reve d'Or', 'Gloire de Ducher', 'Ducher', 'Mademoiselle Cecile Brunner', and many others are still cultivated all around the world.

With its unique expertise and team of specialists, Roseraie Ducher has been producing roses for six generations. Choosing Roseraie Ducher means choosing excellence.
Bare-root rose bushes are only shipped during the dormant season, i.e. from late October to early April. A potted rose bush can be planted all year round, during the growing season, and is packaged in 5.5-liter pots.
Our roses are grafted onto Rosa laxa, which is rare! Some varieties are also propagated by cuttings. This allows you to plant our roses in any soil, even the most calcareous, and they will be very resistant to drought. You can therefore plant them throughout the growing season, even in mountainous areas.
We offer a selection guide on our website based on your needs (climbing roses, bushes, fragrant roses, disease-resistant roses, etc.). You can also contact us for personalized advice.
